I Was in Faibanks Alaska when I first heard of Bill Staines on prarie home companion in the late 70's and bought his album. Some time later I heard he would be in Fairbanks for a concert. His agent had booked him in a small bar in downtown Fairbanks. So my friend Beth and I went there to hear him play. The bar was a little rowdy and probably held about 50 people and 47 of them were drunk. I am pretty sure we were the only ones listening to him. He played a full concert for me and Beth and talked to us between sets. That was one of my fondest memories of Alaska.
